YA Scavenger Hunt – Spring 2017

It’s That Time Again!

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! I’m so pleased and honored to be taking part in this bi-annual event once again. YASH was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors! Exciting? Absolutely! But that’s not all! There’s also a chance to win some awesome prizes!

At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author participating (including me!), you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize. One lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! *le gasp* That’s a TON of books!! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt.

There are eight contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the PURPLE TEAM – but there is also a red team, an orange team, a gold team, a green team, a teal team, a blue team, a blue team, and a pink team for a chance to win a whole different set of books! Purple Team 2017

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and get a full list of the prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden my favorite number in the following text. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the purple team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!).
Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify!! Good luck!
Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission before entering. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by Sunday, April 9th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

Chapter 1
Dares suck. The person who woke up with the idea they should dare someone to do something is a punk ass. Because if it hadn’t been for that person, maybe I wouldn’t be doing this.
I’d be at home, in Uncle Gene and Aunt Stacia’s air conditioned mini mansion, loaded down with blankets and a good book. My cousin Brit, Payton, and Jessa would call me “tragic.” At least I’d be home—or the closest thing I’ll have to home for my senior year.
But someone had to invent dares. Which led to initiations, which is why I’m in the car headed to who-knows-where, in the middle of the night.
The small SUV rolls over uneven ground. It jostles us, forcing me sideways into my
cousin, Brit, who slams into the nearest window as the domino effect kicks in. Payton’s
squinting, leaning toward the steering wheel, her fingers bone white against the leather. She flicks on the high beams, but the headlights are about as effective as a flashlight in a forest.
Fitting, because that’s exactly where we’re headed. The woods.

  1. Hey! If I’m not mistaken, you had a writing piece on Gina Damico’s website for YASH. I absolutely loved it and I was wondering whether it was just a short or a part of a book – and if so, would you be able to tell me what book it was? That was absolutely AMAZING writing.

Hello! Yes, you are correct! Thank you so much, I’m so happy you enjoyed it!! That particular story is a a “side story” about one of the characters from my fantasy series, The Dragonrider Chronicles. Fledgling is book one! 🙂
